Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. February 1, 2013 at Peace United Church of Christ in Elkader, IA for Florine Iona Hansel, 81, of Elkader, who died Tuesday, January 29, 2013, at home. Visitation was held from 3 to 6 p.m. January 31, 2013 at Leonard Funeral Home, Elkader and after 1 p.m. on Friday at the church. Interment was in the Hansel Cemetery, rural Garber, Iowa

Florine Iona Hansel was born on August 6, 1931, in Mallory Township, Clayton County, Iowa, the daughter of Cedric and Cecile (Harris) Hansel. She was raised and educated in the area, attending rural Studebaker School through the 8th grade and graduated from Colesburg High School in 1949. She attended and graduated from Bayless Business College in Dubuque, Iowa.

After graduating from Bayless Business College, she worked for a year in Elkader as cashier for Bink Mercantile. In June 1952, she began working for L. J. Ehrhardt in the law office and continued working there for just over 50 years. She retired from Ehrhardt, Gnagy and McCorkindale Law Office in May 2003.

Florine enjoyed visiting family and friends and especially playing cards.

She is survived by cousins and preceded in death by her parents.
