Funeral services will be held Thursday afternoon, March 7, 2:00 p.m., at St. John's Lutheran Church, Lana, for Mrs. George Sander, 84, who passed away at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Pete Nuehring, Elkader, on Monday. The Rev. Luther Meyer, pastor of St. John's, will be in charge of the rites.
Mrs. Augusta Sander was born March 15, 1879 at Wycoff, Minnesota. She was a resident of the Luana community many years before moving to Elkader with her daughter.

Augusta Sander, daughter of Henry and Wilhelmina Neverman Kamps, was born March 15, 1879, in Wykoff, Minnesota. She was baptized in infancy into the Lutheran faith in Immanuel Lutheran Church there.
She moved with her parents to Postville when a child; she received her education in the country schools. She was confirmed into the Lutheran faith at St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Postville.
She was married to George F. Sander, February 23, 1906, in her parents' home near Hardin, by Rev. William Paulsen of St. John's Lutheran Church, Luana.
The couple farmed in Post township, two years, then bought the home place of the bride's parents, and lived there until they retired to Luana in 1943. They celebrated their golden wedding anniversary in 1956. Mr. Sander passed away in 1959.
Mrs. Sander lived alone for a few years, the, due to ill health, she lived with her daughters until she passed away early in the morning, Monday, March 4, 1963. Cause of death was a stroke. She was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church, Luana, and also a member of the Aid there. She attained the age of 83 years, 11 months and 19 days.
Left to mourn her passing three daughters: Mrs. Harlan Heins (Martha), Postville; Mrs. Harry Gordon (Mabel), Luana; and Mrs. Elliot Nuehring (Dorothea), Elkader; 10 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Her husband and several brothers and sisters preceded her in death.
The funeral, held at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, was conducted by the Rev. Luther A. Meyer. Burial was in the Luana Lutheran cemetery.
