Lyle Charles Wagner
Lyle Charles Wagner, 68, of St. Olaf, passed away Monday, October 22, 2012, at Memorial Hospital in Prairie du Chien, WI following a short battle with cancer. A Memorial Service was held at 11 a.m. October 26, at Norway Lutheran Church, rural St. Olaf, Iowa. Visitation was from 4 to 8 p.m. October 25, at Leonard Funeral Home, Elkader, and one hour before services at the church on Friday, with burial at the Norway Lutheran Cemetery, rural St. Olaf.
Lyle Charles Wagner was born July 14, 1944, on the family farm, rural McGregor, the son of Theodore and Anna (Albright) Wagner. Lyle attended school in Marquette and McGregor.
He was united in marriage to Helen Olson on April, 18, 1964, at Elgin Lutheran Church. Two children were born to this union.
Lyle worked in the construction business for F. A. Moser and C. J. Moyna for a number of years before he started his own business – Wagner Trucking; hauling for many farmers and Pattison Sand in the tri state area, a job he truly enjoyed.
He enjoyed hunting, fishing, snowmobiling, boating on the Mississippi River and driving his lawn mower tractor. He loved his grandchildren and enjoyed spending time with his neighbors, who were like family to him.
Survivors include his wife Helen of St. Olaf; daughter Sherry (Ronn) Trudo of Brownsville, MN; and son Steve Wagner of Elkader; grandchildren, Ely and Jessica Trudo and Jacob, Kyle and Joe Wagner.
Lyle was preceded in death by his parents and his sister Patricia.
