Helen Jeannette Drips

Helen Jeannette Drips, 88, of Arlington, formerly of Elkader, died Thursday, October 4, 2012, at Maple Crest Manor in Fayette.

Visitation was from 10 a.m. until service time October 9, 2012 at Leonard Funeral home in Elkader with funeral services at 11 a.m. Interment was at East Side Cemetery, Elkader, Iowa.

Helen Jeannette Drips was born May 25, 1924, in Stendal, Indiana, to Otto and Nora (Henke) Luker.

Helen loved to cook; cooking for her family was priority. In addition, she worked at numerous restaurants - The Alpine Inn, Pastime, both in Elkader, Maryville Café and the Strawberry Point Nursing Home during her lifetime.

She was united in marriage to Lynn T. Drips on January 27, 1945 in Olin, IA. Four children were born to this union. The couple farmed in Martelle and Strawberry Point before moving to the Elkader area.

Survivors include her children, Joseph (Dee) Drips, Punta Gorda, FL, Betty Drips, Arlington, Roger Drips, Elgin, and Mary Lou (Mark) Tillman, Waucoma; 13 grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren.

Helen was preceded in death by her parents; her husband on August 15, 2004; and 8 brothers and sisters.
