Lillie F. Rowell

Lillie Frances Rowell, 97, of Edgewood, Iowa, died Saturday, September 15, 2012, at the Edgewood Convalescent Home in Edgewood.

Lillie was born September 22, 1914, near Edgewood to Frank and Emma (Ross) Thurn. She was raised and educated in the area attending rural school and later graduated from the Edgewood High School.

Lillie was united in marriage to Lowell D. Rowell on September 8, 1937. Three children were born to this union. Together they farmed near Edgewood. In the late 1970’s they moved to town. Lowell died September 23, 1998.

Lillie was one who enjoyed her family. She was a longtime member of Hope Lutheran Church in Littleport.

Survivors include her children, Louis (Helen) Rowell of Edgewood, Lynn Rowell of Strawberry Point, and Lois (James) Hamer of Traer; 6 grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren.

Lillie was preceded in death her husband, Lowell; two sisters, Laura Burgin and Rosa Destival; and two brothers, W. J. Thurn and Clarence Thurn.

There was no funeral service or visitation and burial was to be held at a later date in the Union Cemetery at Littleport, Iowa.
