A horrible accident happened Tuesday afternoon 2 1/2 miles from Gunder on the St. Olaf road. Will Shepherd was helping his brother harvest barley, his 14 year old daugher Hattie, accompanying him to spend the day. In the afternoon Hattie took lunch to the field, holding the team by the bits while her papa and uncle ate. The team became frightened and ran away, dragging the girl some distance and finally she dropped to the ground, the heavy machine running over her, breaking one leg and the sickle so mangling her other leg it had to be amputated below the knee. She rested well Wednesday and all hope she may recover.
