Neenah, Wisconsin, formerly of Strawberry Point, Iowa.

Visitation was held from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m.and funeral services at 10:30 a.m August 17, 2012 at Leonard-Muller Funeral Home in Strawberry Point, Iowa, with interment on August 17, 2012 at Cass Township Cemetery in Strawberry Point, Iowa, for Norma Jean Russell, 81, of Neenah, Wisconsin, formerly of Strawberry Point, Iowa, who died on Tuesday, August 14, 2012 at the Vallhaven Nursing Home in Neenah, Wisconsin.

Norma Jean Russell was born on February 19, 1931, the daughter of David J. and Augusta (Kleinlein) Hamlett. Norma attended country school through the 8th grade and graduated from Strawberry Point High School. Norma attended one year of college in Cedar Falls and then transferred to the University of Iowa where she graduated with a degree in nursing.

Norma was united in marriage to Bill Russell after graduation and lived several years in New York state where she worked as a nurse and continued her education. She later was on the faculty of the University of Wisconsin in Oshkosh where she taught nursing until her retirement. Norma entered the nursing home in 2010.

Survivors include her husband, Bill of Arizona; her children, Dan of Kansas City, and daughter Krista of Arizona; one brother, Marvin (Dorothy) Hamlett of Strawberry Point; a sister, JoAnn Miller of Manchester; and nieces and nephews.

Norma was preceded in death by her parents; and a brother, Maurice, in infancy.
