Memorial services were held at 1 p.m. on August 5, 2012 at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Volga, Iowa for Marie F. Hanson, 80, of Strawberry Point, Iowa, who died at the Strawberry Point Lutheran Home on Sunday, July 29, 2012.

Marie F. Hanson was born in Strawberry Point, on September 2, 1931, the daughter of Ralph and Hazel (Moyle) Hanson. Marie was raised and educated in the Strawberry Point area, attending rural schools north of town.

Marie lived with her parents north of Strawberry Point and assisted with the farming, and caring for her twin brother. After the death of her parents and brother, she did “handy work” for others. In her younger years, Marie enjoyed riding horses, and hunting mushroom.

Marie entered the Strawberry Point Lutheran Home in 2006.

Survivors include one sister, Ruth Coonfare of Arlington; and many nieces and nephews.

Marie was preceded in death by her parents; one sister, Margaret Klemp; and her twin brother, James.
