Douglas Wayne Bunting

Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. July 31, 2012 at Edgewood Bible Church, Edgewood, Iowa, for Douglas Wayne Bunting, 89, of Edgewood, Iowa, formerly of Littleport, who died at the Edgewood Convalescent Home on Saturday, July 28, 2012, surrounded by his family. Visitation was held from 5 to 7 p.m., July 30, 2012 at Leonard-Muller Funeral Home, Edgewood, Iowa and one hour before the service on Tuesday at the church. Burial was July 31, 2012 at Union Cemetery, rural Littleport, Iowa.

Douglas Wayne Bunting was born on October 21, 1922, on the family farm, rural Littleport, the son of William and Eva (Holiday) Bunting. Wayne was raised and educated in the Littleport area, attended country school, and was a 1942 graduate of Littleport High School.

On September 14, 1949, Wayne was united in marriage to Velma Irene Bush. Six children were blessed to this union. Together they farmed near Littleport until 1988 when they retired to Littleport.

Wayne enjoyed spending time on the farm with family, fishing, gardening, and loved to watch trains.

Survivors include his wife, Velma Bunting of Edgewood; 6 children, Linda (Floyd) Forsythe, William (Mary) Bunting, James (Lori) Bunting all of Edgewood, Martin (Connie) Bunting of Monticello, Thomas (Lori) Bunting of Edgewood, and Susan (Mike) Schams of Holmen, Wisconsin; 13 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; a sister-in-law, Gladys Mason of Gladbrook, Wyoming, and a brother-in-law, Marion (Patti) Bush of Fredericksburg, Iowa.

Wayne was preceded in death by his parents, William and Eva Bunting.
