Postville Graphic, Thur., 28 Nov. 1895.
McGregor had a sensation the other day in the way of a murder and suicide. Hans Allen, a well-to-do farmer, living about three miles south of town, shot and killed a young man named Cross, in the home of a young woman named Minck. He also fired at a fifteen-year-old girl who ran screaming out of the house, inflicting a wound that may yet prove fatal. Allen then turned his revolver on himself and saved the county a big bill of expense by taking his own life. Allen leaves a large family of grown up children. The cause leading to the terrible crime is said to be jealousy and drink.

Note: WPA records show Hans as buried in Stavanger cemetery. The Iowa Gravestone Project shows a photo of his gravestone with dates and relationships.
