John C. Glawe - Services for John Carl Glawe, 86, were held at Peace United Church of Christ Sunday, Jan. 14, at 1:30 p.m. Interment was in Zion Lutheran Cemetery in Clayton Center. The Rev. Alvin Volle, pastor, officiated.

Glawe died January 12 at the Lutheran Home in Strawberry Point.

A son of Henry and Minnie Schroeder Glawe, he was born at Puman, Germany, on November 17, 1886. When he was a year and a half old his parents came to United States and settled near Clayton Center in Read Township and Clayton County became his home for the remainder of his life. He was educated in the rural school of his neighborhood.

He was baptized and confirmed at Zion Lutheran Church at Clayton Center by Rev. Seifert. Later he transferred his membership to Peace Church in Elkader.

On February 11, 1914, Glawe was united in marriage with Freda Marie Schuety, at the Schuety home in Boardman Township. They were blessed with four sons, LeRoy, John, Lester and Alvin. They observed their 54th wedding anniversary before Mrs. Glawe preceded him in death in 1968.

During his active years Glawe farmed in the Elkader and Littleport areas. In 1944 he moved to Littleport. For the past two years he had been a resident of the Lutheran Home at Strawberry Point. Just prior to that he had made his home with his son LeRoy.

He is survived by two sons, LeRoy of Edgewood and Alvin of Kansas City, Mo., one brother, Charles Glawe, Waukon; by seven grandchildren, one great-grandchild and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded by his wife, two sons, John and Lester, and by nine brothers and sisters.

Pallbearers for his final rites were: Gary, Jerald, David, Harley and Verdine Glawe and Elmer Schuety. Usher was Carlys Schuety.
