Wilhelmine Lahrs - Wilhelmine Johanna A. Lahrs was born Nov. 15, 1877, in Germany, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Henry Glawe, and died July 1, 1959, at the home of her son-in-law and daughter, Mr. Mrs. Verni Bahls, of heart disease following two weeks' illness.

Mrs. Lahrs came to America with her parents in 1888. The family came to Read Township in Clayton County, where she resided all her life. She attended the rural schools and became a member of Zion Lutheran Church of Clayton Center.

On March 22, 1900, she was married to Charles Lahrs at Zion Lutheran Church, and to them were born four children: Mrs. Emil (Hilda) Schuety, St. Olaf; Mrs. Fred (Alice) Schuety, Elkader; Mrs. Verni (Esther) Bahls, Elkader; and Elmer Lahrs.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband and son, Elmer Lahrs. She is survived by three daughters, 12 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren; four brothers, Albert Glawe, St. Olaf, Charles Glawe, Elkader, John Glawe, Littleport, and Henry Glawe, Britt; and one sister, Mrs. Caroline Seeland, Elkader.

Funeral services were held Saturday, July 4, 1959, at Zion Lutheran Church, Clayton Center, with the rev. J. H. Zerhusen officiating. Interment was in the new cemetery at Clayton Center. Pallbearers were Carlus Schuety, Elmer Schuety, Lloyd Glawe, Martin Horstman, Jr., Henry Larson, Jr., and Scylvan Bahls.
