Mr. Glawe was born in Germany on the 11th day of October, 1879, and came to America with his parents in the year 1886 at the age of eight years. They came directly to Clayton county and the deceased has been a resident of this county ever since.

In the year 1907, Mr. Glawe was united in marriage with Louise Polkow, the ceremony being performed at Clayton Center. For six years the young couple resided on the present Hoth farm. In 1913 they moved to the farm on which the deceased died.

Nine children were born to this union, one child, Clarence died in infancy. The eight children that mourn his departure are: Rosina, now Mrs. Albert Fette of Elkader; Edwin H., Mabel, [Hattie], Amanda, Bernice, Harold and Harley, who are twins, are all at home.

The deceased was a faithful husband and father, an industrious and well respected citizen of this community. He was a member of the Friedens Evangelical church.
