Obituary: At his home in Read township, on Friday, Jan. 6th, 1905, occurred the death of John Glawe, one of the respected citizens of that township. For the past twenty years Mr. Glawe had suffered from rheumatism and a few months since received a stroke of paralysis, which rendered him helpless until death came as a relief to end his sufferings.

He was born Aug. 3rd. 1839, in Province Pommern, Germany. Upon coming of age he was drafted for military service as a marine and was also called out in the Franco-Prussian war as one of the reserves. In 1865 he was married to Fredericka Mueller and in 1872 they emigrated to this country locating first in Buffalo, N. Y., where they lived for five years. Then they came to Read township which has since been their home. Mr. Glawe engaged in farming. Nine children were born to them who with their mother are left to mourn his departure.

The funeral was held at Clayton Center on Sunday and was attended by a very large number of friends and relatives. Pastor F. Linnenberger officiated at the services.
