Knudt E. Mork Died Wednesday
Knudt E. Mork, retired farmer who had been living in Elgin for a number of years, died Wednesday afternoon, May 8, at about one-thirty. He had been ill for months and several days ago his condition became serious, with little hope for any improvement in his health. He was 74 years old. The funeral will be held Sunday afternoon at the home at 1 o'clock and at 2 o'clock at the Marion church with Rev. Strandjord officiating. A life sketch will follow in our next issue.

-----

Obit of Knudt E. Mork
Knudt E. Mork was born in Marion township, on the old Mork homestead, on January 1, 1860, and died at his home in Elgin, on May 8, 1935. He was the youngest of the six children of Ingebret and Rangde Mork, all of whom have preceded him in death.

He was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith and at the time of his death was one of the oldest members and a most loyal supporter of the Marion church. He was a faithful attendant until he was physically disabled due to a paralytic stroke March 17, 1933.

On February 15, 1890, he was united in marriage to Betsy Olson. To bless this union twelve children were born, namely, Rosina, Alma, Enoch, Sophia, Klara, Abel, Henry, Reuben, Ida, Emma, Ruth and Kenneth.

During the early part of his life he followed the carpenter trade but later engaged in farming on the old Mork homestead. In 1904 he enlarged his holdings and moved to what is now known as the Mork farm. Here he toiled long days and spent many anxious hours that he might best provide for his loved family. In March, 1928, he moved to Elgin where he resided until the time of his death.

Mr. Mork was a devoted christian, and had a quiet, home loving disposition. Those who knew him in his home knew him best. He was always willing to help others in time of need and his numberless acts of kindness and of love will leave memories that will be forever cherished.

In spite of his disability during the last two years, he was ever cheerful, patient and contented, always grateful for the unceasing care and comfort that came from the never tiring hands of his chosen life mate. Each day thanking the Lord for the joys as well as the sorrows it brought. When we loose one we love the bitterest tears are called forth by the thought of the hours when our love had been all too slight. If we had smiled at the one who is gone there would be no despair in our grief, and some sweetness would cling to our tears, recalling virtues and happiness.

He leaves to mourn his beloved widow, his twelve children, thirty-one grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends. Blessed be his memory.

Funeral services were held from the house at 1 o'clock Sunday afternoon followed by services at the Marion church at 2 o'clock, Rev. S.J. Strandjord and Rev. G. Gunsten officiating. Songs were sung by Mrs. Mel Kohler, Mrs. Mae Bopp, C.B. Schori and Edward Klingman. Clifford Kittleson sang a solo. Paul bearers were A.S. Houg, S.E. Nelson, Ole Gisleson, I.H. Skarshaug, E.S. Houg and Oscar Lind. Burial was made in the Marion cemetery.
