Funeral services for Henry R. Larson, 71, were held from the Witt funeral chapel Friday, Aug. 5, and then to the Highland Lutheran church with the Rev. A.O. Nesset officiating. Burial was in the Highland cemetery.

Henry R. Larson, son of Reier and Ragnild Larson, was born Aug. 30, 1877, in Highland township. He was baptized and confirmed at the Marion Lutheran church, and received his education in the rural schools of Highland township. At the time of his death he was a member of the Highland Lutheran church and the Elkader Lodge No. 72, A.F. & A.M.

On Jan. 12, 1905, he was united in marriage to Ida Nora Thronson of Albian Prairie, Wis. They started farming in Highland township, where they resided until 1912, when they moved to North Dakota and proved a claim on the Berthold Reservation. They then returned to Iowa where they resided all of the time with the exception of four years, which were spent farming at Albian Prairie, Wis.

This union was blessed with eight children, all of whom survive except a son, Richard Gerhard, who died at the age of three years. The surviving children are: Mrs. Rosella Mork, Thomas, Sydney, Maurice, Henry JR, Richard D. and Lawrence. His wife preceded him in death on May 9, 1948, and since that time he and his son Richard, have lived on the home farm where he succumbed to a heart attack early Tuesday morning, Aug 2. Mr. Larson had always enjoyed good health and his death was a shock to the entire community.

The loved ones left to mourn are the aforesaid children, twelve grandchildren, one sister, Mrs. E.E. Gunderson, and one brother, Albert Larson, both of Highland. His parents, two sisters, Mrs. Sophia Paulson and Mrs. Julia Odegard, and one brother, Chris R. Larson, preceded him in death. He also leaves several nieces and nephews and other relatives, besides a large circle of friends.

Pallbearers were O.H. Larson, Louis Gregerson, Alfred Cook, Leo Boland, Oscar Benson and Ole Embretson.

Zweiner, New Richland, Minn.; Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Thronson, Mr. and Mrs. Alfred Thronson, Henry Thronson, Albert Hanson, Lloyd Thronson, Philip Thronson, Edgerton, Wis.; Mr. and Mrs. Hubert Thronson, Mrs. Letta Gorder and Mrs. August Schieldt, Edgerton, Wis.; and Mrs. Dan Bradley of Stoughton, Wis.
