ENGEN, OSTENSON

Peter N. Engen, after about six weeks of serious illness, died at his home in Highland township, June 15, at the age of sixty-seven years, eleven months and sixteen days.

Mr. Engen was born in Clayton county, Iowa, June 9, 1868, and had lived all his life in this community. He remained at home with his parents on their farm in Highland and after their death he had lived alone on the home farm. This spring Mrs. Ed Ostenson of Fertile, Minn., a niece of the deceased, came to care for him and she with her husband did all they could to ease his suffering and care for him.

The funeral was held from the Oelke funeral home at Elkader and the Highland church on Thursday forenoon, June 18, with interment in the cemetery adjoining the church, the pastor, Rev. G. Gunsten officiating.

Besides Mrs. Ostenson, there are no other near relatives here, but he leaves many friends who remember him as a kind and true friend and neighbor.
