Postville Review, Fri., 20 October 1905. Parts taken from the McGregor Times, and Waukon Journal.
Last Thursday's McGregor Times says, "John T. Stoneman died last night at 5 o'clock, at the residence of A. Chapin." In the 60's and early 70's Hon. John T. Stoneman was one of Iowa's leading democrats, says the Waukon Journal. He represented Clayton county in the state legislature, and if we are not mistaken was at one time the democratic candidate for congress in this district. He was one of the original owners of the Iowa site of Postville. Later he moved to Cedar Rapids and was no more heard of in politics. He was an able and eloquent man and will doubtless be remembered by our older citizens.
