Postville Herald, Fri., 24 Jan. 1919.

Louis Henry Knuth, son of Mr. and Mrs. Henry Knuth, was born in Monona township, Clayton county, Iowa, March 8, 1893. Soon after his birth he was baptized. He received his christian training at the parochial school of St John's Lutheran church at Luana, Iowa, where he was confirmed March 24, 1907.

Till recently he remained with his parents on a farm near Luana. On January 3, he left for Kansas City, MO., to take a course of training at the Sweeney Auto and Tractor school. Soon after his arrival in Kansas City he became ill with influenza and he had to be taken to a hospital. His parents were notified and hurried to his bedside, but their son had already died when they reached Kansas City. These were shocking news for the parents and relatives and for his many friends which he had won by his kind and peaceable disposition.

The funeral was held Wednesday afternoon, January 15th, from the family residence to St. John's Lutheran church, Luana, at one o'clock. Interment took place in the Lutheran cemetery, Rev. H. P. Kumpf officiating. The floral offerings were many and beautiful and there were many who followed the deceased to his last resting place.

He leaves to mourn his loss his parents, three brothers- Alvin, Walther and Werner; one sister, Milda, and his many friends.

A card of thanks was signed, Mr. Herman Knuth and family.

Elkader Register & Argus, Thur., 16 Jan. 1919. Luana column.

Mr. and Mrs. Herman Knuth received a telegram Friday stating that their son Louie was very ill with pneumonia at Kansas City where he had gone a short time ago to attend the Sweeney Auto School. Mr. and Mrs. Knuth left on the midnight train Friday. Saturday morning a message was received saying that he had passed away. The remains were brought home Monday evening. We sympathize with the parents at this sad hour.
