Augusta Boots Funeral Held, Burial Monday in East Side Cemetery

Funeral services for Mrs. Augusta A. Boots, 89, were held Monday afternoon, at 2 o’clock, from
the Elkader Congregational church. The Rev. George Richter, pastor, officiated. Burial was in the Eastside Cemetery.

Mrs. Boots died on May 10, at Volga following several years illness. She was born, Augusta Alitz, in Germany, on December 15, 1867. She came to this country with her parents in 1869 and settled at Clayton Center. She also lived at Garnavillo and Guttenberg before coming to Elkader.

In 1890 she was married to Warren Samuel Boots who preceded her in death in 1944.

Mrs. Boots is survived by seven children. They are: Mrs. Effie Kramer, Elkader; Ira Boots,
Waterloo; Mrs. George A. Edwards, Davenport; Clarence Boots, Dubuque, Ramon C. Boots,
Elkader; Mrs. David E. Hoover, Clinton and Mrs. Jens B. Jensen, Elkader.

Two other children, Sam Boots and Mrs. Paul Erickson, preceded their mother in death. There are 20 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren.

Paul bearers were six grandsons, Jim and Tom Boots, Wm. R. Hoover, Jack and Jerry Moyna and
David Jensen.

Relatives from out of out who attended the funeral included: Mr. and Mrs. Vance Maha and Harry Maha of New Hampton, Mr. and Mrs. Gordon Mosby and Mrs. Leo Schori of Elgin, Mrs. Mary
Hartman, Mr and Mrs. Arthur Butler, Mr. and Mrs. Vern Block and Ollie Alitz all of Oelwein and
Ben Hulbert.
