Services For Mrs. Marie Stahl

Funeral services for Mrs. Marie Stahl were held Thursday, March 22, at 1 p.m. at West Clermont Lutheran Church, Clermont, conducted by the Rev. John D. Kronlokken. Interment was made at the Volga Cemetery.

Marie Dorothy Jauert was born April 27, 1876 to Christian and Mary (Possehl) Jauert on a farm near Motor, southeast of Elkader in Clayton county. She was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith at Elkport.

On January 31, 1917 she was united in marriage with John Stahl at Elkader. They resided at Volga where they conducted a jewelry store, later changing to a variety store and ice cream parlor.

Her husband died in 1945 and she continued her business alone until 1951 when she sold her property and came to Clermont. Since 1953 she has been a resident of Clermont.

In 1957 she suffered a broken hip. Although she recovered from this, her health has been gradually failing and she has been a bed patient in The Samaritan Nursing Home at Elkader the past nine months where she passed away in her sleep early Monday morning.

Mrs. Stahl was the last of a family of 11 children. She is survived by nieces and nephews.
