Jessie Georgina Ella Smith

Mrs. Leslie Vernon Smith, nee Jessie Georgina Ella Schultz, daughter of William J. and Melida (Radloff) Schultz, was born September 11, 1921 at Farmersburg, Iowa.

She passed away at the Veterans' Memorial Hospital at Waukon, December 10, 1963 at the age of 42 years, 3 months and 8 days.

She moved with her parents from Farmersburg to Luana at the age of 12.

On February 14, 1940, Jessie Schultz was married to Leslie Smith at the St. John's Lutheran Church, Luana. The couple lived on a farm 3 miles north of Luana.

To this union five children were born, Leighton, Kathleen, John, Richard and Eric, all of whom survive.

Mrs. Smith is also survived by her husband; her mother, Mrs. William Schultz of Postville; a sister, Miss Cleva Schultz of Postville; and a brother, Malin Schultz of Luana.

She was preceded in death by her father.

Mrs. Smith was a member of the St. John's Lutheran Church, Luana. On October 5, 1952, she became a member of the Community Presbyterian Church, Postville.

Funeral services were held at the Community Presbyterian Church, Postville, on Sunday, December 22, 1963, at 1:30 p.m. with the Rev. Walter T. Martin in charge of the rites. Burial was in the Postville cemetery.
