William B. Smith
William B. Smith, son of Norman and Gertrude (Moyer) Smith, was born at Volney, Iowa, on January 27, 1905. He passed away at his home on April 26, 1974, at the age of 69 years. He had been in failing health for several years.
He was united in marriage to Anna Campbell at Waukon on Feb. 10, 1926. They farmed in the Volney vicinity most of their lives.
He was a member of the Volney United Methodist Church. He received his education at the Smithfield and Volney schools.
He leaves to remember him his wife, Anna, one daughter, Mrs. Clarence (Judy) Haberichter, a niece, Mrs. Robert (Linda) Sanger, who made her home with them since 1955; 6 grandchildren; 3 brothers, Carl of Monona, Melvin of Waterloo, and Loren of Decorah; one sister, Mrs. Lester (Grace) Kaeser of West Branch, and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother, Elmer; 3 sisters, Mildred, Mrs. Ernest (Elma) Scholl and Mrs. Don (Carolyn) Kerr.
Memorial services were held on April 29, 1974, at the Volney United Methodist Church with Rev. Raymond W. Pacholke officiating. Music was provided by Mrs. Ivon Schultz, pianist, and Mrs. Tom James, soloist.
Pallbearers were nephews, Norman, Earl and Robert Smith, Keith Wilkins, Gordon and Ralph Campbell.
Interment was in the Smithfield Cemetery.
