Military Rites Held For Siegele
Military rites were held at the graveside of Ronald Diegele, 19, at Pleasant Grove cemetery, McGregor, Saturday, May 25. The services were at First Presbyterian church in Waukon earlier in the afternoon with the Rev. Mr. William Tjaden officiating. Siegele died May 21 in an accident which occurred on Highway No. 9 as he was returning from an army reserve training meeting in Waukon. His death occurred at a Rochester, Minn. hospital where he was taken for treatment of his injuries.
Pallbearers were Corp. Dale Thompson, Roger Ernest and Lester Hjelmeland, all of Decorah, Ordell Sorenson of Waterville, James O. McCormick and Gordon Ihde of Waukon.
Siegele was born Nov. 1, 1937 in Clayton county, son of Mr. and Mrs. Walter Siegle. The family later moved to Jefferson township and he graduated from Waukon high school. He served six months at Fort Leonard Wood, Mo., and was a member of the army reserve group at Decorah at the time of his death. He and Shirley Bakke of Waukon were to have been married June 15. His parents and one sister, Mrs. John Stodola of Cedar Rapids, remain.
