Postville Review, Sat., 12 Aug., 1910.

Charlie John Henry Rekow, son of Mr. and Mrs. Hermann Rekow, was born August 8, 1884, at North McGregor, Iowa. Until the year 1905 he lived with his parents and worked in the neighborhood, then he went with his married sister, Anna Dresser, to South Dakota, where he worked on a farm until 1906, when they moved to Emmett, Idaho. There he was employed at government irrigation work. He was taken suddenly sick July 9th with appendicitis and removed to a hospital at once where an operation was performed. The parents received word from there from day to day which seemed hopeful for his recovery, but Thursday morning they received a telegram which brought the sad news that Charlie had passed away. He died July 19th in the hospital at Boise, Idaho, more than two thousand miles from home. He leaves to mourn his death his parents, five brothers and five sisters. His age was 25 years, 11 months and 29 days. The funeral services were held at Luana by Rev. W. Paulson. Interment in the Lutheran cemetery.
