Mrs. Ed Knoebel Rites Held Friday
Services for Mrs. Edward Knoebel were held Friday at Burnham and Woods funeral home in West
Union. Burial was at Monona.Mrs. Knoebel died Monday, January 21, in a West Union hospital. She would have reached her
89th birthday in May.Lone Grace Oliver Knoebel, daughter of Edward and Miranda Oliver, was born May 17, 1868 at
Giard, near McGregor. Here she grew in womanhood.One June 25th, 1886 she was united in marriage with Edward Henry Knoebel at Prairie du Chien,
Wisconsin. Thirteen children, seven daughters and six sons were born to them.Mrs. Knoebel lived most of her life in McGregor. Because of failing health she gave up her home
about a year ago she went to visit the home of her daughter Mrs. Joy Lamphier in West Union.On Thursday, January 17th, she suffered a stroke and was taken to Palmer Memorial Hospital in
West Union.She was a member of the Methodist church in McGregor, and had been a member of the V.F.W.
Auxiliary.She is survived by five daughters: Arlie (Mrs. Albert Rakow), and Ruth (Mrs. George Harrington),
Marquette: Valeto (Mrs. Kenneth Weir), Galt, Calf: Bonnie (Mrs. Joy Lamphier), West Union,
Gaylan (Mrs. Lester Henkes), Dubuque, and five sons Fred Knoebel, Sparta Wis.; Jack, Chicago;
Alfred, Siren, Wis.; Joy of Marquette, and Mike, Omaha; also surviving are 43 grandchildren, 71
great-grandchildren and 1 great-great-grandchild.Her husband and three children preceded her in death.
