John Raymond Knoebel passed away on Wednesday, July 7, at the age of 68. He had lived in
Chicago, Illinois for the last 25 years, but was formally from Marquette.He is survived by his wife, Eva, two sons, Jack and Jimmy of Chicago, Illinois, Mrs. Dora Spolnik,
Mrs. Betty Hoeschele, Patricai Hale all of Chicago, Mrs. Dorothy Bueyington of Warm Springs,
Oregon and Mrs. Belle Orkzok of St. Louis Park, Minnesota. Fifteen grandchildren, four brothers,
Fred Knoebel of Sparta Wis., Allan Knoebel of Siren, Wis., Michael Knoebel of Omaha and Joy
Knoebel of Marquette. Five sisters, Mrs. George Harrington of Marquette, Mrs. Al Rakow of
Marquette, Mrs. Joy Lamphier of West Union, Mrs. Lester Henkes and Mrs. Kenneth Weir of Galt,
California. Services were held Saturday, July 10, at 2:00 PM at the Thornburg Funeral Home, Rev.
Kent Kastler officiating. Internment was in Pleasant Grove Cemetery. Mrs. Jo Ann Strutt sang
“Beyond the Sunset” and the “Old Rugged Cross”. Mrs. Nettie Coon was organist and pall bears
were Dick Hinkel, Charles Peck, Harold Henning, Harry Schott, Miles Cadin and Bill Hoeschele.-source: North Iowa Times July 15, 1965 page 2
