Ten Killed In Weekend Crashes, Toll Includes Four Victims In East Iowa.

Clayton Co Victims:

John Welsh, 22, of Colsburg, and Nancy Simon, 17, of Guttenberg, were killed Sunday when a car driven by Welsh ran off a highway 52 curve four miles south of Guttenberg and struck a tree.

Services for Welsh will be held Tuesday at 2, at the Guttenberg United Methodist church. Friends may call after 6 p.m. Monday at Tuecke-Allenstein Funeral Home in Guttenberg.

Funeral services were held Tuesday afternoon at First Methodist Church in Guttenberg for John Welsh, who died Saturday, November 4, 1972 at the age 22 in an auto accident.

Services were conducted by the Rev. Fred Richardson, pastor of the church.

Burial was in Oak Hill Cemetery at Colesburg with the following pallbearers: Kenneth Bolsinger, James Hankes Jr., Bruce Moser, Clarence Horstman Jr., Edward Van Lennep and Ronld Hyde.

John Allen Welsh was born December 18, 1949, at Graham in Clayton County, a son of Dennis and Esther Bolsinger Welsh

He graduated from Guttenberg Community High School in 1968, and served in the United States Army from September, 1969, until March, 1972. His service included over a year in Korea with a military police unit.

Military honors were accorded him at graveside.

He was employed at Palo by the Betchel Corporation.

Surviving are his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Dennis Welsh, a sister, Nancy, of Cedar Rapids, and a brother, Dale, also of Cedar Rapids.
