Strawberry Point Soldier Drowns While In Vietnam.

Strawberry Point - The department of the army notified Mr. and Mrs. Biliie L. Duart, of rural Strawberry Point, Sunday of the death of their son, Pfc. Billie D. Duart. Pfc. Duart died by accidental drowning on Aug. 25 while serving in Vietnam.

Duart attended the Independent public schools and was a 1970 graduate of Starmont high school. He entered the army in Feb., 1971 and received basic training at Ft. Leonard Wood, Mo. He arrived in Vietnam in July, 1971. Duart was a member of the United Methodist church in Strawberry Point.

Survivors besides his parents are four sisters, Beverly Elliot, of Cedar Rapids, Pfc. Melody L. Duart, of Ft. Jackson, Ga., and Cheryl and Kimberly, both at home; two brothers, Wayne and Bobby Duart, both at home, and his maternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. George Pinning, of Washington, D.C.

Services are pending at the Jane-Clifton funeral home in Earlville.
