Burrus Phillips, a well known pioneer of Clayton county, died at his home in Huron, South Dakota, November 4th, 1893. Deceased was a native of New York state; removed to Clayton county and settled near Hardin about 185_. In 1880 he removed to Huron. He was a millwright by trade and a man of much information. He possessed a remarkable memory and a strong individuality of character. His mental faculties remained unimpaired up to the time of his death. His remains were interred at the Oathout cemetery, Luana, on Tuesday. Three sons survive him.
