MONONA, Iowa - Crystal June Mielke, 46, of Harpers Ferry, formerly of Monona, died Thursday, Nov. 6, 2003, at Gundersen Lutheran Hospital, La Crosse, Wis., following a sudden illness.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Monday at St. Paul Lutheran Church, Monona, with the Rev. Allen Bidne officiating. Burial will be in the Monona City Cemetery. Friends may call from 2 to 6 p.m. Sunday at Leonard Funeral Home, Monona. Friends also may call after 10 a.m. Monday at the church.
Mrs. Mielke worked at D & J Feed in Monona and Pattison Bros. in Fayette.
She was born on May 22, 1957, in Prairie du Chien, Wis., son of Curtis and Judy (Schave) Henkes.
Crystal graduated from MFL High School in 1975, and received a bachelor of arts degree from Upper Iowa University.
She married Stanley Mielke on Sept. 22, 1978, at St. Paul Lutheran Church, Monona. Two children were born to this union.
She enjoyed boating, gardening, flowers and relaxing. She loved being a grandma.
Surviving are her husband, Stanley; her daughters, Kerri (Brian) Berns, of Luana, and Kalista (Kelby) Keehner, of Lewiston, Minn.; two grandchildren, Braxton and Taylor Berns, of Luana; her father, Curtis Henkes, of Monona; her mother, Judy Ball, of Harlan; three sisters, Colleen (Larry) Hunter, of Hills, Cheri (Fred) Huff, of Farmersburg, and Corinne Henkes, of Dubuque.
She was preceded in death by her paternal and maternal grandparents, Albert and Laura Henkes and Clarence and Lenora Schave.
