Services Held for Miles Alderson
Miles S. Alderson, son of John and Susannah Carpenter, was born in Cox Creek Township, Clayton
County on October 3, 1887. He received his education in the rural school. While a young man he worked two years in a general store in Osborne, also worked about two years in Colorado.

He was united in marriage to Emma Meyer on January 4, 1911 in Strawberry Point at the home of
Mrs. Alderson, sister and brother in-law Mr. and Mrs. George Baumgartner. The ceremony was
performed by Rev. E. R. Pipper.

To this union two daughters were born.

Miles lived and farmed all his life in the Strawberry Pt. area. His main interests were his home, family and friends. He was always ready to lend a helping hand.

He was preceded in death by a grandson Gary Lewis, his parents, three sisters and four brothers.

Survivors include, his wife Emma, two daughters Marcella (Mrs. Eldon Fenton) of Strawberry Point
and Marvel (Mrs. Carl Lewis) of Gladstone, Oregon, six grandchildren and six great grandchildren.

Miles has experienced failing health for several years. He was taken ill on the evening of October
25, he was taken to the Manchester hospital where he passed away on the afternoon of October 26,
1970.

He also enjoyed the many visits of his neighbors, friends and relatives.

Services were held in the First Methodist Church of Strawberry Point of which he was a member.

Services were conducted by the Rev. F. W. Shreve. Pallbearers were Otto Behrens, Edward
Farmer, Ed Farrell, James Stock, J. W. Jessen, Jerome Davis.
