Mrs. Jos. Seybert Passes on Sunday
Lydia A. Gano, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Alvin Gano, was born in Grand Meadow township, Clayton county, Iowa, Feb. 2, 1852, and died at her home in Postville, Iowa, Sunday, Feb. 2, 1930, aged 78 years. She was married to Joseph Seybert, Jan. 1, 1869, at Prairie du Chien, Wis., and immediately began housekeeping on the Gano farm in Grand Meadow township. To this union were born eight children, four of whom survive, namely Brad Seybert, Mrs. A.C. Harrington and Mrs. Fred E. Gordon of Postville, and Fred Seybert of Elkader. The resided in Grand Meadow until 14 years ago when they moved to Postville, where Mr. Seybert died five years ago last December.
For the past twenty-two months Mrs. Seybert has been a severe sufferer from physical afflictions, paralysis rendering her helpless twenty-two months ago, during all of which time she has had the tender care of her children, and she was known as a most patient sufferer, never having complained in the least concerning her own afflictions.
Besides the four children above referred to she is survived by eleven grandchildren, four great-grandchildren and one sister, Mrs. Peter Beucher of this city, and many friends. The funeral was held from the home in this city at two o'clock on Tuesday afternoon, Rev. R.F. Galloway officiating. Interment was made in Grand Meadow cemetery.
During a residence in this immediate vicinity that was lifelong Mrs. Seybert was ever known as a devoted wife and mother, a good neighbor and true friend, and all who came within the circle of her acquaintance will regret her passing.
