Clayton County Register, Wednesday, January 12, 1938

MCGREGOR: Beulah Maxine Hinsch, eldest daughter of Charles and Adelia Gifford Hinsch of McGregor, was born Aug. 1, 1905, at Farmersburg, Iowa. Sometime later the family moved to Granite Falls, Minn. When she was 12 years old she became a member of the Congregation churc, taking part in all its activities. She graduated from the Granite Falls high school and normal school and taught one year in Minnesota. The family then moved to McGregor, Iowa, and she continued her college work at the Iowa State Teachers college at Cedar Falls, and the State University at Iowa City. She was employed in the grade school at Farmersburg for five years.

In May, 1929, she was united in marriage to Merle J. Oelke of Farmersburg, at the home of her parents, Rev. J.F. Parsons performing the ceremony, and went to Cincinnati, Ohio, to live, but a year later Mr. Oelke's work took him to California. They have made their home ever since in Glendale, where he is an official photographer for the American Airlines, Inc., and Pan American Airways in Grand Central Air Terminal.

Her death occurred Sunday morning, Jan. 2, 1938, at a rest home at Sierra Madre, following an illness of about two years.

Funeral services were held from the home of her parents in McGregor, to the Congregational church, Rev. J.F. Parsons officiating, Friday afternoon, Jan. 7th. Burial was made in Pleasant Grove cemetery. The casket bearers were Fred Huebsch, Karl Kramer, Gerald Connell, Ray Weir, and Dewitt Woods of McGregor, and Wm. Reardon of Farmersburg.
She is survived by her husband, her parents, and three sisters, Charlotte, Mrs. Don Taylor, of Dubuque; Helen, Mrs. Gerald Stack, of Dubuque, and Patty at home.

Out-of-town relatives and friends attending the funeral services were: Mr. and Mrs. Geo. Seippel, Mrs. Laura Dodd and Mr. and Mrs. Donald Oelke, of Dubuque; Mr. and Mrs. H.D. Hinsch of Estherville, Iowa; Mr. and Mrs. Milo Jacobia, Mrs. Ray Jacobia and Miss Carroll, of Postville; Mr. and Mrs. Arno Oelke, Mr. and Mrs. M.E. Boyle, Mrs. Mary Bruns, of Monona; Mrs. Art Mohrman and Jane, Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Carney of St. Olaf; Mrs. Oliver Trygg of Maquoketa; Mrs. Wm. Woodson and Mrs. Nellie Nus, of Arlington; Mr. and Mrs. Walter Dettman, Mr. and Mrs. Abner Roebken, Mr. and Mrs. Dan Coffman, Mr. and Mrs. Kaiser, Mrs. Wm. Kaiser, Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Dettman, of Garnavillo; Milo and Don Munger, Geo. Cassidy, Mr. and Mrs. John Downey, Mrs. Mary Hulverson, Mrs. Frieda Engelhardt and Mr. and Mrs. Ed. Dickman, of Elkader; Mr. and Mrs. Frank Perry and Mrs. H.J. Flavin, of Austin, Minn.; Mr. and Mrs. Lloyd Hinsch of Savanna, Ill.; Mrs. Wm. Armstrong of Chicago, and a large number of relatives and friends from Farmersburg and Marquette.
