The Rev. Emil Reinking of St. John Lutheran Church, Luana, conducted the funeral service for Mrs. Arthur Berg, on Monday morning.
Mrs. Berg, 88, died Friday morning at the Good Samaritan Home in Postville. Burial was in the Luana Cemetery.
Amelia Maria, daughter of Christoph Henry and Caroline (Bierbaum) Overbeck was born April 25, 1886 south of Luana and was baptized June 2_ (paper tore here)...that year, renewing her baptismal vows by confirmation April 8, 1900 in St. John Lutheran Church, Luana.
She received her education in the Luana school and spent her entire life in the Luana community. She served as assistant postmaster in Luana for a number of years.
On June 5, 1923 she was united in marriage to Arthur Henry Berg in the Ben Overbeck home by Pastor Kumpf. Mr. Berg preceded her in death May 18, 1973. They would have observed their golden wedding had he lived until June 5 of that year. Following his death she went to live in the Good Samaritan Home.
Survivors include her brother Ben in San Jose, California and several nieces and nephews.
