Johnnie William Breitsprecher

Johnnie William Breitsprecher died Thursday, November 5 at Mercy Hospital in Cedar Rapids following a long illness.

Funeral services were held Saturday, November 7, 2 p.m. at St. Sebald's Lutheran Church, rural Strawberry Point. Pastor Charles Smith officiated. Burial was in the church cemetery. Schultz's Funeral Home, Monona, was in charge of services. Johnnie was born June 1, 1920 at Clayton Center, Iowa to parents Charles and Alma Lahrs Breitsprecher. He was baptized and confirmed at Zion Lutheran Church, Clayton Center. He received his education in Clayton Center school.

On Jan. 3, 1942 he married Shirley (Ashline) Lane at Clayton Center. He served in the U.S. Army during W.W. II. The couple lived in Strawberry Point and Elgin before moving to Froelich in 1960. He was a mechanic at Farmersburg Implement for 25 years, retiring in 1985.

Preceding him in death were his parents and one brother, Edwin.

Surviving is his wife, Shirley; 2 daughters, Joan (Gary) Brown and Linda (Bill) Martin all of Cedar Rapids; son Edward (Beverly) Lane of Colorado Springs, CO; 4 grandchildren, 2 step-grandchildren; a sister Nora Larson and a brother Melvin, both of McGregor.

Pallbearers were Jerry Jennings, Kenneth David, Darwin Shoesmith, Kenneth Kuehl, Bernel Larson and Bill Christianson.
