CHARLES DESOTEL FUNERAL SERVICES

Funeral services for Charles DeSotel, t3**, were held Thursday morning, Oct. 28, 1971 at 10:30 o'clock at St. Paul Ev. Lutheran church with Rev. R. E. Langholz officiating.

The body lay in state at the church from 9:30 o'clock in the morning until the time of the services. Burial was in the St. Paul Lutheran cemetery.

Mr. DeSotel had been in failing health during the last year. He was taken to a Prairie du Chien hospital Oct. 20, 1971, where he died Monday, Oct 25, 1971 at 11:30 a.m.

As Charles Raymond, he was born a son of Joseph and Emma, nee Timm, DeSotel, Dec. 5, 1897, at Millville. He was baptized Jan. 16, 1898, at Guttenberg by Rev. J. Janzig and was confirmed March 31, 1912, at Guttenberg by the same pastor. He attended the rural schools of his home community.

He was married to Abbie Monroe, April 10, 1923, at Castalia. They lived in Monona ever since, where he worked at various jobs until he went into business for himself as a blacksmith. He served in our community in this work for the last 59 years.

Preceding him in death were his parents, a brother, Emil, and one grandchild, Randy Ferguson.

Surviving are his wife, Abbie, three daughters, Mrs. Melvin (Pearl) Martens of Alden, Mrs. Jason (Arleen) Ferguson of Monona, and Mrs. Henry (Dorleen) Thornton of Waukon; one son, Raymond of Monona; two sisters, Mrs. Harold (Hilda) Aulerich of Monona and Mrs. Emil (Marie) Jaster of Ossian; one brother, Otto of Monona; 13 grandchildren, and one great-grandchild.

Music at the services was provided by congregational singing. Mrs. R. E. Langholz was the organist.

Pallbearers were: Robert Kurdelmeyer, Marlyn Henderson, Henry Mueller, Sr., Selmer Hellen, John Ambrose, and Alvin Johnson.
