SERVICES FOR MRS. JOE DESOTELFuneral services were conducted last Saturday afternoon at 1:30 o'clock from the Schutte Funeral Home to St. John's Lutheran Church at Luana for Mrs. Joseph DeSotel, who passed away from a heart attack at her home September 13, 1950. Rev. Adix officiated. Burial was in the Luana cemetery.
Emma Helena Timm DeSotel, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Christian Timm, was born October 3, 1874 at Millville. After attaining the age of 75 years, death came to her suddenly September 13, 1950 sometime between 11:00 and 12:00 a.m. while she was working in her home. A heart attack was the cause. She had been in failing health for years.
She was baptized and confirmed in St. John's Lutheran Church at Guttenberg.
She was married to Joseph DeSotel on February 16, 1897 in St. John's church at Guttenberg. She was a member of the ladies aid from her marriage until her death.
After her marriage, she and her husband resided several years on a farm near Millville. In 1908 they moved to Dubuque county and in 1911 they moved back near Guttenberg. They came to Luana in 1920 making their home on a farm north of town. In 1942 they moved to a farm northeast of Postville, at which place Mrs. DeSotel died.
She was preceded in death by her husband who passed away January 1 of this year, by her parents, three sisters, two brothers and one grandchild.
She leaves to mourn her passing her three sons, Charles and Emil of Monona and Otto at home; two daughters, Hilda, Mrs. Harold Aulerich of Monona, and Marie, Mrs. Emil Jaster of Ossian; 11 grandchildren, three great grandchildren, and a brother Charles of Fargo, North Dakota.
