SERVICES FOR JOE DESOTELFuneral services were held last Thursday afternoon at St. John's Lutheran Church in Luana for Joe DeSotel of Postville, formerly of Luana, with Rev. Paul W. Adix, pastor of St. John's, officiating. Burial was at the adjoining cemetery.
Mr. DeSotel passed away Sunday evening, January 1, 1950 at the farm home. He was confined to his bed only a few days before heath came. He had been in failing health for several years.
Joe DeSotel was born April 6, 1873 at Millville and passed away on January 1, 1950 at the age of 76 years. He was married February 16, 1897 to Emma Timm at Guttenberg.
After marriage the couple resided for several years on a farm near Millville. In 1908 they moved to a farm in Dubuque county and in 1911 they moved back to a farm near Guttenberg. In 1920 they moved to a farm north of Luana and in 1942 they took up their farm home northeast of Postville.
Mr. DeSotel leaves to mourn his death, his wife, his three sons, Charles and Emil of Monona, and Otto at home; two daughters, Hilda (Mrs. Harold Aulerich) of Monona and Marie (Mrs. Emil Jaster) of Ossian; 11 grandchildren; two sisters, Mrs. Emma Nimms of Los Angeles and Mrs. Elizabeth LaPage of Peoria, Illinois.
He was preceded in death by his parents, six sisters, seven brothers and one grandchild.
