Services for Kenneth Behrend were held Thursday, March 27, 1980, at 11 a.m. at St. John Lutheran Church, Farmersburg, with Pastor Karl E. Hansen officiating. Pallbearers were Don Marmann, James Probert, Jim Bollman, Carl Schmidt, Ed Busch and Milton Hamann. Burial was in Farmersburg-Wagner Cemetery, and Schultz's Funeral Home, Monona, was in charge of services.
Kenneth Charles Behrend, the son of Charles and Nettie (Dahlstrom) Behrend, was born May 13, 1915, at Farmersburg. He was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith. He received his education in the Farmersburg area.
He entered the Army on April 25, 1942, and was honorably discharged November 23, 1945. He was a member of St. John Lutheran Church, the American Legion Post 388, and Clayton County Lodge number 70 AF&AM. He was retired from construction work, having worked for many years with the Moser Construction Company.
He died Monday, March 24, 1980, at Veterans Administration Hospital, Iowa City, after a short illness, having reached the age of 64 years, 10 months and 11 days. Preceding him in death were his parents.
Surviving him are a sister, Verda Mae, and a brother-in-law, Lorraine Hamann, of Garnavillo, other relatives and many friends who will miss him.
