Charles Henry Blietz

Services for Charles Blietz were held Thursday, December 27, 1979, at 2 p.m. at the Garden City United Methodist "Brick" Church, Monona, with Rev. Carroll Brown officiating. Pallbearers were Dennis Grove, Marlin Swenson, Walter W. Bruehahn, Jr., Robert Imbus, Dennis Landt, Jason Ferguson, and Loren Landt. Honorary pallbearers were Henry Bottleman, William Moses, Lorenz Landt, and Dwain Wolter. Organist was Mrs. Ivon Schultz, and soloist was Mrs. Tom James. Burial was in the Monona City Cemetery. Schultz's Funeral Home, Monona, was in charge of services.

Charles Henry Blietz, the son of Joseph and Ethel (Snell) Blietz, was born July 1, 1919, at Postville. He attended the Walnut Grove School. He was a member of the Luana Community Club and the Garden City United Methodist Church.

On December 5, 1956, he was united in marriage to Marilyn Blackbourn at Cedar Rapids, Iowa. To this union 3 children were born; Terry, Vickie, and Charlynn. He was a farmer until he started working at the Monona Wire Corporation where he worked for 3 years but had been totally disabled since June 1976. His love was as a woodsman.

He died Sunday, December 23, 1979, at his home as a result of smoke inhalation from a fire. He reached the age of 60 years, 5 months and 22 days.

Preceding him in death were his parents.

Surviving him are his wife, Marilyn; his son, Terry, of Postville; 2 daughters: Mrs. Roger (Vickie) Landt of Luana, Charlynn, at home; 4 grandsons; his half-sister, Mrs. Dennis (Dorothy) Mitchell of Monona; and other relatives. He will be sadly missed by those who knew and loved him.
