Mrs. Louis (Ella M. Palas) Schultz

 
Mrs. Ella M. Schultz passed away on Monday, January 29, 1973, at the Postville Community Memorial Hospital, where she had been a patient for two weeks, at the age of 88 years, one month and 21 days. For the last four years she had made her home at the Good Samaritan Home, Postville.

Mrs. Ella Schultz was born near St. Olaf, Clayton Co., December 8, 1884, the daughter of John Palas and Caroline Voss. In her infancy she was baptized at the Zion Lutheran Church, Clayton Center. She was confirmed at the same church on April 3, 1899.

She received her education in the rural schools of Clayton County. On February 28, 1904, she entered marriage with Louis Schultz, at St. John Lutheran Church, Farmersburg. Four children were born to this union.

Her husband, Louis Schultz, passed away on July 3, 1930, as a result of an accident. Mrs. Schultz has been a widow since that time.

She leaves to cherish her memory two sons, Harlan of Cresco, Iowa, and Ivon of Monona; two daughters, Mrs. Cloy (Berna) Meier of San Leandro, California, and Mrs. John (Ada) Todd of San Gabriel, Cal.; 13 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, 3 sisters, and 8 brothers.

Her funeral was held from St. John Lutheran Church, Luana, Thursday, February 1, with the Rev. John Mohr officiating. Pastor Mohr also was the soloist for the service. Helmuth Landt was organist. The body was laid to rest in the Lutheran Cemetery, Luana.

Pallbearers were Kermit Klinge, Henry Palas, Dale Schultz, Wm. Schultz, Harley Palas, Kenneth Schultz, Harlan Schultz, John Schultz and _aul Schultz. Honorary pallbearers were Lawrence Schultz, Roland Gray, Elmer Klinge and John Palas.
