Mrs. Fred (Louise Maria Sophia Emma Jarms) Schultz

Funeral services for Mrs. Fred (Louise) Schultz, 74, were held Saturday afternoon, Feb. 27, 1965 at 2 o'clock at St. Paul Lutheran church with Rev. R. E. Langholz officiating.

The body lay in state at the church from 1 o'clock until the time of the services. Burial was in St. Paul Lutheran cemetery.

Mrs. Schultz died Wednesday, Feb. 24, 1965, at the Postville hospital after a short illness.

She was born the daughter of Franz and Magdelena, nee Barghahn, Jarms, Jan. 12, 1891, in Giard township. She was baptized Louise Maria Sophia Emma, by Pastor Johannes Graening, at St. Paul Lutheran church in Monona, Feb. 22, 1891. She received her education in the rural schools and attended German confirmation school under Pastor Graening. On April 16, 1905, she was confirmed in the Lutheran faith.

She was married to Fred Schultz June 23, 1917, with Pastor Otto Wappler performing the ceremony. The couple farmed for two and one-half years in Grand Meadow township and then moved to the home at the south edge of Monona, which is now occupied by their son and his family. She made her home with them since the death of her husband in 1956.

Mrs. Schultz was a member of Ladies Aid Society, the Sewing Circle, and the Mary-Martha Circle. She taught Sunday school for many years and was the church organist for nine years.

Preceding her in death were her husband, her parents, and four brothers, Frank, Henry, Louis, and Willie.

Immediate survivors include her son, Dean; one brother, Ben Jarms of Monona; one sister, Mrs. Frank (Amelia) Voelzke of Strawberry Point; and four grandchildren, Barbara, David, LuAnn, and Tim Schultz.

Music at the services was provided by the congregation singing. Mrs. George Heins was the organist.

Pallbearers were: George Wilker, Lyal Voelzke, Harold Jarms, Jason Voelzke, Harvey Jarms, and Emil Schultz, Jr.
