Strawberry Point, Ia. April 4, 1929, Special: The funeral services for Alexander C. Carpenter were held at the home Wednesday afternoon, conducted by Rev. Thomas J. Elwck, pastor the the M. E. Church.The casket supporters were Thomas Laity, August Skibbe, Louis Kash, Fred Davis, L. W. Preston and Rich Laity. Interment was made in the local cemetery.
Alexander C. Carpenter, was born in Pennsylvania Easter Sunday April 19 1854, and passed away at the Nichols hospital in Savannah, Mo. Easter Sunday at 1:20 o’clock, March 31, 1929, at the age of 74 years.
His early years were spent in Cox Creek Township. He was married to Miss Elizabeth Mitchell in 1874. To this union were born six children, one daughter, Leta, dying in infancy and one son, Irvin, preceded their father in death.
Over twenty years ago, Mr. and Mrs. Carpenter moved to town where they have since resided. He and his son-in-law John Tinker purchased a pool hall which they have conducted.
He is survived by his wife and four children, John J. and Mrs. Addie Tinker, of this place; Wayland E. of Fayette, Iowa, and Elmer M. of Cogswell, N. D.; twenty-one grand children and six great grandchildren. He also leaves one brother James of Cogswell, N. D. and two sisters, Mrs. Susie Alderson of Cox Creek, and Mrs. Cassie Marshall of California.
