William Bugenhagen

Funeral services for William Bugenhagen were held Friday, March 8, 1985 at 1:30 p.m. at St. John Lutheran Church in Luana. The Rev. Ted Ager officiated. The Schutte Funeral Service of Postville was in charge of arrangements. Burial was in the Postville Cemetery.

William Henry Bugenhagen, son of William Carl and Minnie (Meyer) Bugenhagen, was born Feb. 15, 1901 in Luana. He died Tuesday, March 5, 1985 at Community Memorial Hospital in Postville.

He was baptized April 14, 1901 at St. John Lutheran Church in Luana and confirmed there March 28, 1915. Bill attended the Luana School.

Sept. 28, 1927 he was married to Minnie Blumhagen at the home of her parents near Castalia. They farmed south of the Luana School for 39 years, on the farm where his grandparents had lived. In 1967 they purchased their home in Luana. He was a member of St. John Lutheran Church in Luana and served on the Luana Town Council for a short term.

He is preceded in death by a sister, Esther (Mrs. Carl Blumhagen).

Surviving are his wife, Minnie, 2 brothers, Edwin of Monona and Walter of Luana, and 2 sisters, Irene Harnack of Froelich and Mabel Nielsen of Luana and many nieces and nephews.
