Helen Marie (McNeil) Saeugling
Funeral services for Helen Marie McNeil Saeugling were held Thursday, June 15, 11 a.m. at St. Patrick's Catholic Church, Monona. Father John Moran officiated. Burial was in St. Patrick's Catholic Cemetery, Monona. Schultz's Funeral Home, Monona was in charge of services.
The daughter of Dan and Nora Palas McNeil, she was born April 30, 1918, in Postville, Iowa. She was baptized and confirmed in the Catholic faith. She received her education in Postville, graduating from high school in 1936. She attended Coe College in Cedar Rapids after graduation.
She made her home in Monona since 1939. She helped operate and manage a bar and restaurant in Monona for 10 years and was a sales representative for Avon for 33 years.
She died Monday, June 12, 1989 at Palmer Memorial Hospital in West Union, IA, following a long illness. She was a member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church and Rosary Society and the Monona AMVETS Auxiliary Post 27. She was very active in many church and community affairs.
Preceding her in death were her parents.
Surviving are son and daughter-in-law, James and Sandra Saeugling, San Diego, CA, son, Steve Saeugling, Maple Grove, MN; 3 grandchildren, Kathy, Kim and Dawn Saeugling; 1 great-granddaughter, Jenna Mae and one brother, Leo McNeil, Reston, VA.
