Abner Sanger
Abner Sanger was born August 22, 1901, in Gunder, Iowa, to parents Philipp and Rose Siegele Sanger. He was baptized and confirmed at St. Paul Lutheran Church, Postville. He received his education at Luana Country school and Luana Consolidated School.
Abner farmed on his parents farm, east of Monona, with his brother Siegel since 1920. He also worked sawing lumber.
Abner died Tuesday, February 17, 1987 at Postville Community Hospital, following a short illness.
He was a school board member of Giard Twp., district 9 and St. Paul Lutheran Church, Monona.
Preceding him in death were his parents.
Surviving are three brothers, Rayburn, Dubuque, Franklin, McGregor, Siegel, Monona; two sisters, Mrs. Fanna Manahl and Mrs. Mary Brown, both of Dubuque and many nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held at 2:00 p.m., Friday, February 20, 1987 at St. Paul Lutheran Church, Monona, Iowa. Rev. Harold O. Ward officiating. Burial in St. Paul Lutheran Cemetery, Monona, Iowa.
Pallbearers were Doug Stinksi, Darl Sanger, Edwin Sanger, Robert Sanger, Russell Brown, E. Daniel Brown, David Sanger.
Honorary pallbearers were Leo Viazney, Norbert Fritz, Joe Berns, Harold Vorwald, Gaylord Trappe and Freddie Neverman.
Schultz's Funeral Home Monona, was in charge of services.
