Gladys Brown Services Held

Funeral services for Gladys Brown, 73, were held Tuesday, December 11, 1979, at Schultz's Funeral Home, Monona, with Rev. Curtis Webster officiating. Pallbearers were Eldon Leas, Arvid Leas, Clark Nichols, Harmon Hamm, Herbert Schmidt, and Louis Wagner. Burial was in the Monona City Cemetery.

Gladys Marie Brown, the daughter of Robert Reece and Eunice Mae (Jenkins) Flack, was born August 28, 1906, in Allamakee County. She received her education in the rural schools.

On May 17, 1933, she was united in marriage with Cerns Ora Davis, who passed away on January 8, 1948. On June 2, 1956, she was united in marriage with Darwin Ronald Brown. He passed away December 1, 1974.

In addition to her husbands, she was preceeded in death by her parents, an infant brother, Benny, and a sister, Lula Arnold. Gladys died December 8, 1979, at Veteran's Memorial Hospital, Waukon, Iowa, having reached the age of 73 years, 3 months, and 10 days.

She was a member, for a time, of the Rebekka Lodge and while living in Luana, was a member of Luana Methodist Church. She moved with her second husband Darwin to farm at Sixteen, where they lived for a number of years. After his death she made her home in Marion, Iowa. On October 28th of this year, she moved to Waukon.

Surviving her are a stepson, James Brown of Trenton, Missouri; 3 step-grandsons; 2 sisters, Mrs. Jessie Hawkins of Marion, Iowa, and Mrs. Orpha Ellefson of Charles City, Iowa; a brother, Harold Flack of Postville; and nieces, nephews, and other relatives. She will be sadly missed by those who knew and loved her.
