Mrs. FLOYD (Bernice Ann Rose) SCHLITTER
Bernice Ann Rose Schlitter died June 29, 1988 at the Guttenberg Care Center. She was born March 21, 1911, in Allamakee County near Volney. Her parents were Dell and Sarah Cowell Rose. She was baptized and confirmed in the Methodist faith. She received her education in the Volney area country schools.
On Sept. 25, 1929 she married Floyd Schlitter. They had one son. The couple farmed north of Watson until Floyd's death, Sept. 29, 1966. She moved to Monona in 1967.
She was a member of Garden City United Methodist Church and the Dorcas circle.
Preceding her in death were her husband, Floyd; 6 brothers, Raymond, Joe, Harold, Delbert, Robert and Jim Rose; and 3 sisters, Laurene Garms, Bernita Siverly and Delores Rose.
Surviving are her son, Arden, Webster City, 5 grandchildren, one great-grandson and a sister, Carol Huseman, Dubuque.
Services were July 2, 1988, 2 p.m. at Garden City United Methodist Church, Monona with Rev. Gary Dobbins officiating.
Burial was in Smithfield Cemetery, Allamakee County.
Pallbearers were Dean Bernhard, Don Bernhard, Russ Bernhard, Tim Rose, Tom Rose and Cletus Rose. Schultz's Funeral Home, Monona was in charge of services.
Honorary pallbearers: Kim Schlitter, Eugene Schlitter, Terry Schlitter and Dan Garms.
