MRS.VICTOR J. (AMANDA W. C. KREGEL) MEYER 1891-1972
Funeral services were held Friday, October 6, 1972, at St. Paul Lutheran Church, Monona, for Mrs. Victor (Amanda) Meyer, who died October 4 at the age of 81 yrs., 7 months & 15 days.
Amanda Wilhelmine Charlotte Kregel, daughter of Fred H. Kregel and Louise nee Meyer was born on February 19, 1891, on a farm near Garnavillo, Iowa. She was baptized on May 30, 1891, by Pastor Otto Gammelin and was confirmed in 1905 in St. Peter's Lutheran Church at Ceres, Iowa, by Pastor John Bunge.
On Feb. 10, 1914, she was united in marriage with Victor J. Meyer at Garnavillo with Pastor Bosholm officiating. They lived on a farm in Wagner Township and on various other farms in this community until they moved to Monona in 1924. She was an honorary member of Peace Circle at the time of her death. Her husband passed away in 1959.
For the past three years she has been living at the Good Samaritan Home at Postville.
She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, two sisters, Alvina and Alma, and three brothers, Ed, Herman and one brother who died in infancy, and one granddaughter, Karen Kay Klotzbach.
Surviving are her two children, Irene, who is Mrs. Walter Klotzbach, and LaVern Meyer, both of Monona; one sister, Selma, who is Mrs. Alvin Dettmann, four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Rev. R. E. Langholz officiated at the services. Mrs. George Heins was the organist.
Pallbearers were Gary Meyer, Stanley Klotzbach, Julius Dettmann, Carlton Collins, Donald Klotzbach and Eugene Collins.
Burial was in the Monona City Cemetery.
